Pace is a habit tracker for small groups, made for iOS. This policy describes what the Pace app collects, who can see it, and how to delete it. It also covers this website, joinpace.app.
Summary
- We collect your email, the name you choose, an optional profile photo, the habits you track, your reps and streaks, your groups, nudges, and — if you allow notifications — an Expo push token.
- Supabase stores that information in the United States (AWS us-east-1). Nudge notifications go through Expo, then Apple Push Notification service.
- People in a group with you can see your name and your logs on shared habits. Your display name is also readable by any signed-in Pace user, because the app uses it when someone looks up a join code.
- Pace shows no ads and does not sell personal information.
- You can delete your account in Settings. Read “Deleting your account” for what that removes.
- Pace is for people 13 and older.

Who we are
Pace is the app behind this site. You sign in with an email magic link. The app does not create a password. Reach us at support@joinpace.app.
Information you give us
Account. Sign-in sends a one-time magic link to your email through Supabase Auth and stores that email on your account. You can change the email in Settings. A change sends a verification message to the new address. Pace does not collect a phone number.
Profile. After sign-in, Pace asks for a first name. A last name is optional. We store the name and initials (up to two letters) on your profile, and we copy the name into your Supabase Auth metadata as your display name.
Photo. A profile photo is optional. You pick one image from your photo library. Pace uploads that image to Supabase Storage, in a bucket named avatars, under a folder for your account. The URL is saved on your profile and in your Auth metadata. The rest of your photo library stays on your device. The iOS permission says: “Pace needs access to your photos to set a profile picture.” Storage access rules for that bucket are set in the Supabase project, outside the app repository. Any signed-in user can read the URL stored on your profile.
Habits. When you create a habit we store its name, emoji, default cadence (a count, and day, week, or month), and your user id as the creator.
Personal habits. A habit you keep for yourself is linked to your account. Reps on a habit that is not in a group you share are visible only to you.
Groups. A group stores its name, color, join code, and the user id of the person who created it. Joining stores your membership. You can set your own cadence for a habit inside a group. That override is stored on your membership. A group holds at most 10 members.
Reps and streaks. A rep stores the habit, the date, and the count for that day. A streak stores your current count, your best count, and the windows you have completed. A window is a calendar day, a week that starts on Sunday, or a calendar month, matching the habit’s cadence.
Nudges. A nudge stores who sent it, who received it, the habit, the group, and the time. You can send one nudge per person, per habit, every 24 hours. You cannot nudge yourself, and both people have to be in that group.
Information from your device
Push token. If you allow notifications, Pace asks Expo for a push token after you are signed in and stores it in a push_tokens table, with the time it was updated. Only your account can read that row. If you decline notifications, or the app is not on a physical device, Pace does not store a token.
On the device only. Your sign-in session is stored on the device so you stay signed in. Your color theme is stored only on the device and is not uploaded.
Service logs. Supabase may record operational logs such as IP address, time, and diagnostic detail while it hosts the database, authentication, storage, and the nudge and delete-account functions. The app does not include an analytics SDK or a crash-reporting SDK. This policy does not set a retention period for provider logs.
The app configuration also names an Expo updates address. The app code in this project does not itself call an update service. A shipped build that checks Expo for an update can send basic app and device information to Expo under Expo’s own terms. Pace does not copy that check into its database.
Pace does not collect contacts, location, health or motion data, microphone recordings, payment information, or an advertising identifier.
How we use information
- To create your account and send magic-link and email-change messages.
- To show your habits, reps, streaks, and progress.
- To run groups, join codes, and the social pulse of who has logged.
- To deliver nudges that you or another member choose to send.
- To let you edit your profile and delete your account.
Who can see it
- Any signed-in user can read profile names, initials, and avatar URLs. Group names, colors, and join codes are readable by any signed-in user, so a code can be looked up before someone joins.
- Group members can see each other’s membership and cadence overrides, the group’s habits, and the reps and streaks for habits linked to that group.
- A nudge can be read by the sender and the recipient. The notification says “[Name] nudged you!” and “Time to log [habit]!”
- Personal habits stay visible only to you until you add them to a group.
- Push tokens are readable only by the account that owns them. The server reads the recipient’s token when it sends a nudge.
Service providers
Supabase hosts the database, authentication, file storage, and the edge functions that send nudges and delete accounts. Pace’s Supabase project runs in AWS us-east-1 (North Virginia, United States). Sign-in email is sent by Supabase Auth. The app does not use a separate email product.
Expo issues the push token and accepts the nudge at https://exp.host/--/api/v2/push/send. The payload is the recipient’s token, the sender’s display name, the habit name, and the habit, group, and sender ids. Expo hands the notification to Apple Push Notification service, which delivers it to the iPhone. We do not control which countries Expo or Apple use for that delivery.
Advertising and selling data
Pace does not show advertisements. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not offer personal information for sale or sharing under the California Consumer Privacy Act, because we do not sell or share it that way.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while the account exists. The app has no scheduled purge.
Leaving a group removes your membership. It leaves reps you already logged in place. Removing a personal habit takes it off your list. Deleting a group, when the app allows it, removes that group together with its memberships and habit links. A habit definition you created can remain so other people can keep using it.
Supabase and Expo keep their own operational logs on their own schedules.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings from the gear on Today, then choose Delete account. Pace asks you to confirm twice, then calls the delete-account function. That function removes:
- your reps and streaks
- which shared habits you had joined
- your push token
- nudges you sent or received
- your group memberships
- your profile
- photo files in your folder of the avatars bucket
- your sign-in record, including your email
Personal-habit links are removed with your profile.
Habit definitions and groups you created are not deleted, so other members can keep using them. Those records still store the id of the person who created them, and account deletion does not clear that id. If you have created a habit or a group, deletion can fail and the account can remain. If Settings says deletion failed, email support@joinpace.app and we will remove it.
The app has no export button. Email us if you want a copy of your information.
Children
Pace is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. The app does not ask for a date of birth. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The app talks to Supabase over HTTPS. Row-level security limits who can read each table. Push tokens are limited to the owning account. No way of storing or sending information is perfectly secure.
Your rights
You can see and update your name, email, and photo in Settings. You can edit habits, cadence, and membership in the app. You can delete your account as described above.
Email support@joinpace.app to request a copy of your information, to finish a deletion that failed, or to ask a question about this policy. We will respond within 30 days.
We will not treat you differently for making a request. If you live in California, the categories we collect are identifiers (email, user id, push token), profile information (name and optional photo), and the content you add (habits, reps, streaks, groups, and nudges). We use them to provide Pace. We disclose them to the providers above and to other users as this policy describes.
